Could be an attack on a hub done this way that one connected channel is automatically posting (by rss and the channel sources app) thousands of posts in a short time interval?
Certainly. This is why we have a permissions system.
If you've got 100 connections and send 1 post and receive 10 likes, your site will have processed up to 1000 queued messages as it shares those likes (comments, etc) with the rest of your connections. It all adds up pretty fast.
