Ni! !Zotlabs|Hubzilla Development

This Sunday I'm giving a talk about Hubzilla and Zap at one of the largest French free software conferences, called Capitole du Libre:

If anyone has any interesting points they think I should highlight about the last two years of progress in Zot+Hubzilla+Zap, and what is next, please share (:

Regarding what is next, hints on what the general direction and situation is with nomadic content, and with activitypub compatibility, would be very welcome. I have a very broad idea but could use more details in cast people ask questions.

Same as I did two years ago, I plan to translate my presentation to English and share it in my cloud.

I see, though I don't ask you to add to some kind of exhaustive list, only to remind something that you personally found useful or cool, perhaps something you've contributed, and that would be nice to highlight.

Not a new feature, but an eye-opener for me, and probably to others used to the commercial social media sites: You can control who is allowed to contact you.

I had a friend sign up on my hub, and thought I'd send her a few tips to get started as a PM. Since she had decided on a fairly closed profile, and hadn't confirmed my connection (yet), I wasn't allowed to. Of couse I have other ways to get in touch with her, but just the fact that you can have this type of control over your channel is quite unique even among the decentralized social netwokring platforms.

Perhaps highlight the single-signon aspects of OWA. It really is a killer feature. What can be done with it is seen in the new workflow app. Through frames, owa, and modals, you can have an integrated experience even though you are posting items to remote channels and interacting with remote hubs. But you only ever sign in to your own channel on your own hub.

It is single-signon for websites and web applications.

And if you build your web application on top of Hubzilla, it is already baked in with granular access controls.

And, just to be clear, I didn't say you can't have non-public posts on Mastodon, I was referring to not having control over who interacts with your public posts. And I didn't open the talk with that. I think I know who this is and I clarified the points with him during the questions :)

Does Mastodon now allow you to secure the media that you attach to your posts? Or does embedded media still need to be unprotected and accessible with only the ability to "security by obscurity" and try to "hide" the URL somehow by making it complicated?
